Surah Ar-Rahmaan: Arabic, Transliteration and Translation
Surah Ar-Rahmaan is chapter 55 of the Holy Quran; it has 78 verses and is a Medinan surah. Below you can read the whole surah verse by verse with the Arabic text, Latin transliteration and English translation.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ﴿1﴾
Ar Rahmaan
1.The Most Merciful
عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ﴿2﴾
'Allamal Quran
2.Taught the Qur'an,
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ﴿3﴾
Khalaqal insaan
3.Created man,
عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ﴿4﴾
'Allamalhul bayaan
4.[And] taught him eloquence.
ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍۢ﴿5﴾
Ashshamsu walqamaru bihusbaan
5.The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation,
وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ﴿6﴾
Wannajmu washshajaru yasjudan
6.And the stars and trees prostrate.
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ﴿7﴾
Wassamaaa'a rafa'ahaa wa wada'al Meezan
7.And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance
أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ﴿8﴾
Allaa tatghaw fil meezaan
8.That you not transgress within the balance.
وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ﴿9﴾
Wa aqeemul wazna bilqisti wa laa tukhsirul meezaan
9.And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.
وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ﴿10﴾
Wal arda wada'ahaa lilanaame
10.And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures.
فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةٌۭ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ﴿11﴾
Feehaa faakihatunw wan nakhlu zaatul akmaam
11.Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates]
وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ﴿12﴾
Walhabbu zul 'asfi war Raihaanu
12.And grain having husks and scented plants.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿13﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan
13.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍۢ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ﴿14﴾
Khalaqal insaana min salsaalin kalfakhkhaari
14.He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.
وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍۢ مِّن نَّارٍۢ﴿15﴾
Wa khalaqal jaaan mim maarijim min naar
15.And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿16﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan
16.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ﴿17﴾
Rabbul mashriqayni wa Rabbul maghribayni
17.[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿18﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan
18.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ﴿19﴾
Marajal bahrayni yalta qiyaani
19.He released the two seas, meeting [side by side];
بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌۭ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ﴿20﴾
Bainahumaa barzakhul laa yabghiyaan
20.Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿21﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan
21.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ﴿22﴾
Yakhruju minhumal lu 'lu u wal marjaanu
22.From both of them emerge pearl and coral.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿23﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan
23.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَٰمِ﴿24﴾
Wa lahul jawaaril mun sha'aatu fil bahri kal a'laam
24.And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿25﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
25.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍۢ﴿26﴾
Kullu man 'alaihaa faan
26.Everyone upon the earth will perish,
وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ﴿27﴾
Wa yabqaa wajhu rabbika zul jalaali wal ikraam
27.And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿28﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
28.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍۢ﴿29﴾
Yas'aluhoo man fissamaawaati walard; kulla ywmin huwa fee shaan
29.Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is bringing about a matter.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿30﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
30.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ﴿31﴾
Sanafrughu lakum ayyuhas saqalaan
31.We will attend to you, O prominent beings.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿32﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
32.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
يَٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ﴿33﴾
Yaa ma'sharal jinni wal insi inis tata'tum an tanfuzoo min aqtaaris samaawaati wal ardi fanfuzoo; laa tanfuzoona illaa bisultaan
33.O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allah].
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿34﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
34.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌۭ مِّن نَّارٍۢ وَنُحَاسٌۭ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ﴿35﴾
Yursalu 'alaikumaa shuwaazum min naarifiw-wa nuhaasun falaa tantasiraan
35.There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke, and you will not defend yourselves.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿36﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
36.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةًۭ كَٱلدِّهَانِ﴿37﴾
Fa-izan shaqqatis samaaa'u fakaanat wardatan kaddihaan
37.And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil -
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿38﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
38.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌۭ وَلَا جَآنٌّۭ﴿39﴾
Fa-yawma'izil laa yus'alu 'an zambiheee insunw wa laa jaann
39.Then on that Day none will be asked about his sin among men or jinn.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿40﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
40.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ﴿41﴾
Yu'raful mujrimoona biseemaahum fa'yu'khazu binna waasi wal aqdaam
41.The criminals will be known by their marks, and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿42﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
42.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ﴿43﴾
Haazihee jahannamul latee yukazzibu bihal mujrimoon
43.This is Hell, which the criminals deny.
يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍۢ﴿44﴾
Yatoofoona bainahaa wa baina hameemim aan
44.They will go around between it and scalding water, heated [to the utmost degree].
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿45﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
45.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ﴿46﴾
Wa liman khaafa maqaama rabbihee jannataan
46.But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens -
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿47﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
47.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍۢ﴿48﴾
Zawaataaa afnaan
48.Having [spreading] branches.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿49﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
49.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ﴿50﴾
Feehimaa 'aynaani tajriyaan
50.In both of them are two springs, flowing.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿51﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
51.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍۢ زَوْجَانِ﴿52﴾
Feehimaa min kulli faakihatin zawjaan
52.In both of them are of every fruit, two kinds.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿53﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
53.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍۢ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍۢ﴿54﴾
Muttaki'eena 'alaa furushim bataaa'inuhaa min istabraq; wajanal jannataini daan
54.[They are] reclining on beds whose linings are of silk brocade, and the fruit of the two gardens is hanging low.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿55﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
55.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
فِيهِنَّ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌۭ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّۭ﴿56﴾
Feehinna qaasiratut tarfi lam yatmishunna insun qablahum wa laa jaaann
56.In them are women limiting [their] glances, untouched before them by man or jinni -
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿57﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
57.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ﴿58﴾
ka annahunnal yaaqootu wal marjaan
58.As if they were rubies and coral.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿59﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
59.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَٰنُ﴿60﴾
Hal jazaaa'ul ihsaani illal ihsaan
60.Is the reward for good [anything] but good?
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿61﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
61.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ﴿62﴾
Wa min doonihimaa jannataan
62.And below them both [in excellence] are two [other] gardens -
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿63﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
63.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ﴿64﴾
Mudhaaammataan
64.Dark green [in color].
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿65﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
65.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ﴿66﴾
Feehimaa 'aynaani nad daakhataan
66.In both of them are two springs, spouting.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿67﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
67.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةٌۭ وَنَخْلٌۭ وَرُمَّانٌۭ﴿68﴾
Feehimaa faakihatunw wa nakhlunw wa rummaan
68.In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿69﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
69.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌۭ﴿70﴾
Feehinna khairaatun hisaan
70.In them are good and beautiful women -
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿71﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
71.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
حُورٌۭ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌۭ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ﴿72﴾
Hoorum maqsooraatun fil khiyaam
72.Fair ones reserved in pavilions -
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿73﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
73.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌۭ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّۭ﴿74﴾
Lam yatmis hunna insun qablahum wa laa jaaann
74.Untouched before them by man or jinni -
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿75﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
75.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍۢ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍۢ﴿76﴾
Muttaki'eena 'alaa rafratin khudrinw wa 'abqariyyin hisaan
76.Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿77﴾
Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
77.So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ﴿78﴾
Tabaarakasmu Rabbika Zil-Jalaali wal-Ikraam
78.Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
