The Most Powerful Duas at a Glance
The most powerful duas in Islam are the ones the Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ taught and the ones Allah recorded in the Quran. Among the strongest are Sayyidul Istighfar (the master prayer for forgiveness), "Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil" (Allah is sufficient for us), and the Quranic "Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah." Below, each is given with its exact Arabic, transliteration, English meaning, and authentic source.
Nothing on this page is invented: every supplication is either a verse of the Quran or a narration graded authentic (sahih). Where scholars consider a report weaker, we say so plainly rather than presenting it as certain.
Duas from the Quran
Quranic duas are the most reliable of all, because they are the literal words of Allah. Reciting them is worship in itself.

โ Quran 3:8. A dua for firmness on the straight path.
Ayatul Kursi โ The Greatest Verse
Ayatul Kursi (Quran 2:255) is not a dua in the form of a request, but it is one of the most powerful things a Muslim can recite for protection. The Prophet ๏ทบ said that whoever recites it after every obligatory prayer, nothing stands between them and Paradise except death (Nasa'i, graded sahih), and whoever recites it at night will have a protector from Allah until morning, and no devil will approach them (Bukhari 2311).
Because of its length, recite Ayatul Kursi directly from a copy of the Quran or the Nurlu app to ensure the Arabic is exact.

He also recited them into his hands and wiped over his body before sleeping (Bukhari 5017).
How to Make Your Dua More Likely to Be Accepted
- Begin with praise of Allah and send salawat on the Prophet ๏ทบ before you ask.
- Face the Qibla and raise your hands.
- Choose the best times: the last third of the night, in sujood, between adhan and iqamah, the last hour of Friday, and while fasting.
- Be certain Allah will answer, and never rush by saying "I called and was not answered."
- Ask for good things and avoid dua against family or ties of kinship.
Keep These Duas With You
You can memorize these gradually โ start with the short Quranic duas and La ilaha illallah, then add Sayyidul Istighfar. The Nurlu app includes these duas with authentic Arabic, audio, and sources, and its prayer times feature reminds you of the blessed moments when dua is most readily accepted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which dua removes anxiety fastest?
The dua of Yunus โ "La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin" (Quran 21:87) โ and the Prophetic dua against worry and grief (Bukhari 6369) are both authentically reported as remedies for distress. Recite them sincerely and repeatedly.
Do I have to raise my hands when making dua?
Raising the hands is a recommended manner reported in many narrations, but dua is valid without it. In some situations โ such as during the sermon or within the prayer itself โ the Prophet ๏ทบ did not raise his hands, so follow the Sunnah for each context.
Is it allowed to repeat a dua many times?
Yes. The Prophet ๏ทบ used to repeat a supplication three times, and there is no limit on how often you may call on Allah. Persistence in dua is itself praised.
