Surah As-Saaffaat: Arabic, Transliteration and Translation
Surah As-Saaffaat is chapter 37 of the Holy Quran; it has 182 verses and is a Meccan surah. Below you can read the whole surah verse by verse with the Arabic text, Latin transliteration and English translation.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ صَفًّۭا﴿1﴾
Wassaaaffaati saffaa
1.By those [angels] lined up in rows
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًۭا﴿2﴾
Fazzaajiraati zajraa
2.And those who drive [the clouds]
فَٱلتَّٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا﴿3﴾
Fattaaliyaati Zikra
3.And those who recite the message,
إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌۭ﴿4﴾
Inna Illaahakum la Waahid
4.Indeed, your God is One,
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ﴿5﴾
Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa wa Rabbul mashaariq
5.Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ﴿6﴾
Innaa zaiyannas samaaa 'ad dunyaa bizeenatinil kawaakib
6.Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars
وَحِفْظًۭا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍۢ مَّارِدٍۢ﴿7﴾
Wa hifzam min kulli Shaitaanim maarid
7.And as protection against every rebellious devil
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍۢ﴿8﴾
Laa yassamma 'oona ilal mala il a'alaa wa yuqzafoona min kulli jaanib
8.[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,
دُحُورًۭا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ وَاصِبٌ﴿9﴾
Duhooranw wa lahum 'azaabunw waasib
9.Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌۭ ثَاقِبٌۭ﴿10﴾
Illaa man khatifal khatfata fa atba'ahoo shihaabun saaqib
10.Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٍۢ لَّازِبٍۭ﴿11﴾
Fastaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnaa; innaa khalaqnaahum min teenil laazib
11.Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay.
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ﴿12﴾
Bal'ajibta wa yaskharoon
12.But you wonder, while they mock,
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ﴿13﴾
Wa izaa zukkiroo laa yazkuroon
13.And when they are reminded, they remember not.
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ﴿14﴾
Wa izaa ra aw Aayatinw yastaskhiroon
14.And when they see a sign, they ridicule
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ﴿15﴾
Wa qaalooo in haazaa illaa sihrum mubeen
15.And say, "This is not but obvious magic.
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ﴿16﴾
'A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa 'izaaman 'ainnaa lamab'oosoon
16.When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ﴿17﴾
Awa aabaa'unal awwaloon
17.And our forefathers [as well]?"
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ﴿18﴾
Qul na'am wa antum daakhiroon
18.Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ﴿19﴾
Fa innamaa hiya zajra tunw waahidatun fa izaa hum yanzuroon
19.It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ﴿20﴾
Qa qaaloo yaa wailanaa haazaa Yawmud-Deen
20.They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿21﴾
Haazaa Yawmul Faslil lazee kuntum bihee tukaziboon
21.[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."
۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ﴿22﴾
Uhshurul lazeena zalamoo wa azwaajahum wa maa kaanoo ya'budoon
22.[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿23﴾
Min doonil laahi fahdoohum ilaa siraatil Jaheem
23.Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ﴿24﴾
Wa qifoohum innahum mas'ooloon
24.And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ﴿25﴾
Maa lakum laa tanaasaroon
25.[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"
بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ﴿26﴾
Bal humul Yawma mustaslimoon
26.But they, that Day, are in surrender.
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿27﴾
Wa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa ba'diny yatasaaa'aloon
27.And they will approach one another blaming each other.
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ﴿28﴾
Qaalooo innakum kuntum taatoonanaa 'anil yameen
28.They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."
قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ﴿29﴾
Qaaloo bal lam takoonoo mu'mineen
29.The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًۭا طَٰغِينَ﴿30﴾
Wa maa kaana lanaa 'alaikum min sultaanim bal kuntum qawman taagheen
30.And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ﴿31﴾
Fahaqqa 'alainaa qawlu Rabbinaaa innaa lazaaa'iqoon
31.So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].
فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ﴿32﴾
Fa aghwainaakum innaa kunnaa ghaaween
32.And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ﴿33﴾
Fa innahum Yawma'izin fil'azaabi mushtarikoon
33.So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ﴿34﴾
Innaa kazaalika naf'alu bil mujrimeen
34.Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ﴿35﴾
Innahum kaanooo izaa qeela lahum laaa ilaaha illal laahu yastakbiroon
35.Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍۢ مَّجْنُونٍۭ﴿36﴾
Wa yaqooloona a'innaa lataarikooo aalihatinaa lishaa'irim majnoon
36.And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"
بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿37﴾
bal jaaa'a bilhaqqi wa saddaqal mursaleen
37.Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ﴿38﴾
Innakum lazaaa'iqul 'azaabil aleem
38.Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿39﴾
Wa maa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta'maloon
39.And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿40﴾
Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
40.But not the chosen servants of Allah.
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ﴿41﴾
Ulaaa'ika lahum rizqum ma'loom
41.Those will have a provision determined -
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ﴿42﴾
Fa waakihu wa hum mukramoon
42.Fruits; and they will be honored
فِى جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ﴿43﴾
Fee jannaatin Na'eem
43.In gardens of pleasure
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ﴿44﴾
'Alaa sururim mutaqaa bileen
44.On thrones facing one another.
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ﴿45﴾
Yutaafu 'alaihim bikaasim mim ma'een
45.There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍۢ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ﴿46﴾
Baidaaa'a laz zatil lish shaaribeen
46.White and delicious to the drinkers;
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌۭ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ﴿47﴾
Laa feehaa ghawlunw wa laa hum 'anhaa yunzafoon
47.No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.
وَعِندَهُمْ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌۭ﴿48﴾
Wa 'indahum qaasiraatut tarfi 'een
48.And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ﴿49﴾
Ka annahunna baidum maknoon
49.As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿50﴾
Fa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa badiny yatasaaa 'aloon
50.And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
قَالَ قَآئِلٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌۭ﴿51﴾
Qaala qaaa'ilum minhum innee kaana lee qareen
51.A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]
يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ﴿52﴾
Yaqoolu a'innnaka laminal musaddiqeen
52.Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ﴿53﴾
'A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa 'izaaman 'ainnaa lamadeenoon
53.That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"
قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ﴿54﴾
Qaala hal antum muttali'oon
54.He will say, "Would you [care to] look?"
فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿55﴾
Fattala'a fara aahu fee sawaaa'il Jaheem
55.And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ﴿56﴾
Qaala tallaahi in kitta laturdeen
56.He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me.
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ﴿57﴾
Wa law laa ni'matu Rabbee lakuntu minal muhdareen
57.If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ﴿58﴾
Afamaa nahnu bimaiyiteen
58.Then, are we not to die
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ﴿59﴾
Illa mawtatanal oola wa maa nahnu bimu'azzabeen
59.Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ﴿60﴾
Inna haazaa falya'ma lil'aamiloon
60.Indeed, this is the great attainment.
لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَٰمِلُونَ﴿61﴾
Limisli haaza falya'ma lil 'aamiloon
61.For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌۭ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ﴿62﴾
Azaalika khairun nuzulan am shajaratuz Zaqqom
62.Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum?
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهَا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿63﴾
Innaa ja'alnaahaa fitnatal lizzaalimeen
63.Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌۭ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿64﴾
Innahaa shajaratun takhruju feee aslil Jaheem
64.Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ﴿65﴾
Tal'uhaa ka annahoo ru'oosush Shayaateen
65.Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ﴿66﴾
Fa innahum la aakiloona minhaa famaali'oona minhal butoon
66.And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًۭا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ﴿67﴾
Summa inna lahum 'alaihaa lashawbam min hameem
67.Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿68﴾
Summa inna marji'ahum la ilal Jaheem
68.Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ﴿69﴾
Innahum alfaw aabaaa'ahum daaalleen
69.Indeed they found their fathers astray.
فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ﴿70﴾
Fahum 'alaa aasaarihim yuhra'oon
70.So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿71﴾
Wa laqad dalla qablahum aksarul awwaleen
71.And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ﴿72﴾
Wa laqad arsalnaa feehim munzireen
72.And We had already sent among them warners.
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ﴿73﴾
Fanzur kaifa kaana 'aaqibatul munzareen
73.Then look how was the end of those who were warned -
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿74﴾
Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
74.But not the chosen servants of Allah.
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌۭ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ﴿75﴾
Wa laqad naadaanaa Noohun falani'mal mujeeboon
75.And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ﴿76﴾
Wa jajainaahu wa ahlahoo minal karbil 'azeem
76.And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ﴿77﴾
Wa ja'alnaa zurriyyatahoo hummul baaqeen
77.And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ﴿78﴾
Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen
78.And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿79﴾
Salaamun 'alaa Noohin fil 'aalameen
79."Peace upon Noah among the worlds."
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿80﴾
Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
80.Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿81﴾
Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen
81.Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ﴿82﴾
Summa aghraqnal aakhareen
82.Then We drowned the disbelievers.
۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ﴿83﴾
Wa ina min shee'atihee la Ibraaheem
83.And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍ﴿84﴾
Iz jaaa'a Rabbahoo bi qalbin saleem
84.When he came to his Lord with a sound heart
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ﴿85﴾
Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maazaa ta'budoon
85.[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةًۭ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ﴿86﴾
A'ifkan aalihatan doonal laahi tureedoon
86.Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire?
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿87﴾
Famaa zannukum bi Rabbil'aalameen
87.Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةًۭ فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ﴿88﴾
Fanazara nazratan finnujoom
88.And he cast a look at the stars
فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌۭ﴿89﴾
Faqaala inee saqeem
89.And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ﴿90﴾
Fatawallaw 'anhu mudbireen
90.So they turned away from him, departing.
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ﴿91﴾
Faraagha ilaaa aalihatihim faqaala alaa taakuloon
91.Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat?
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ﴿92﴾
Maa lakum laa tantiqoon
92.What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?"
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ﴿93﴾
Faraagha 'alaihim darbam bilyameen
93.And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ﴿94﴾
Fa aqbalooo ilaihi yaziffoon
94.Then the people came toward him, hastening.
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ﴿95﴾
Qaala ata'budoona maa tanhitoon
95.He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ﴿96﴾
Wallaahu khalaqakum wa maa ta'maloon
96.While Allah created you and that which you do?"
قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًۭا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿97﴾
Qaalub noo lahoo bun yaanan fa alqoohu fil jaheem
97.They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire."
فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًۭا فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ﴿98﴾
Fa araadoo bihee kaidan faja 'alnaahumul asfaleen
98.And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased.
وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ﴿99﴾
Wa qaala innee zaahibun ilaa Rabbee sa yahdeen
99.And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ﴿100﴾
Rabbi hab lee minas saaliheen
100.My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous."
فَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٍۢ﴿101﴾
Fabashsharnaahu bighulaamin haleem
101.So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ﴿102﴾
Falamma balagha ma'a hus sa'ya qaala yaa buniya inneee araa fil manaami anneee azbahuka fanzur maazaa taraa; qaala yaaa abatif 'al maa tu'maru satajidunee in shaaa'allaahu minas saabireen
102.And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast."
فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ﴿103﴾
Falammaaa aslamaa wa tallahoo liljabeen
103.And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,
وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ أَن يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ﴿104﴾
Wa naadainaahu ai yaaaa Ibraheem
104.We called to him, "O Abraham,
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿105﴾
Qad saddaqtar ru'yaa; innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
105.You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ﴿106﴾
Inna haazaa lahuwal balaaa'ul mubeen
106.Indeed, this was the clear trial.
وَفَدَيْنَٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍۢ﴿107﴾
Wa fadainaahu bizibhin 'azeem
107.And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ﴿108﴾
Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen
108.And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ﴿109﴾
Salaamun 'alaaa Ibraaheem
109."Peace upon Abraham."
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿110﴾
Kazaalika najzil muhsineen
110.Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿111﴾
Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen
111.Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
وَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِإِسْحَٰقَ نَبِيًّۭا مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ﴿112﴾
Wa bashsharnaahu bi Ishaaqa Nabiyayam minas saaliheen
112.And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.
وَبَٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌۭ وَظَالِمٌۭ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌۭ﴿113﴾
Wa baaraknaa 'alaihi wa 'alaaa Ishaaq; wa min zurriyya tihimaa muhsinunw wa zaalimul linafshihee mubeen
113.And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself.
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ﴿114﴾
Wa laqad mananna alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon
114.And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ﴿115﴾
Wa najjainaahumaa wa qawmahumaa minal karbil 'azeem
115.And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,
وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ﴿116﴾
Wa nasarnaahum fakaanoo humul ghaalibeen
116.And We supported them so it was they who overcame.
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ﴿117﴾
Wa aatainaahumal Kitaabal mustabeen
117.And We gave them the explicit Scripture,
وَهَدَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ﴿118﴾
Wa hadainaahumus Siraatal Mustaqeem
118.And We guided them on the straight path.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ﴿119﴾
Wa taraknaa 'alaihimaa fil aakhireen
119.And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ﴿120﴾
Salaamun 'alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon
120."Peace upon Moses and Aaron."
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿121﴾
Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
121.Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿122﴾
Innahumaa min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen
122.Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿123﴾
Wa inna Ilyaasa laminal mursaleen
123.And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ﴿124﴾
Iz qaala liqawmiheee alaa tattaqoon
124.When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allah?
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًۭا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَٰلِقِينَ﴿125﴾
Atad'oona Ba'lanw wa tazaroona ahsanal khaaliqeen
125.Do you call upon Ba'l and leave the best of creators -
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿126﴾
Allaaha Rabbakum wa Rabba aabaaa'ikumul awwaleen
126.Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ﴿127﴾
Fakazzaboohu fa inna hum lamuhdaroon
127.And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿128﴾
Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
128.Except the chosen servants of Allah.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ﴿129﴾
Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen
129.And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ﴿130﴾
Salaamun 'alaaa Ilyaaseen
130."Peace upon Elias."
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿131﴾
Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
131.Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿132﴾
Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen
132.Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
وَإِنَّ لُوطًۭا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿133﴾
Wa inna Lootal laminal mursaleen
133.And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ﴿134﴾
Iz najjainaahu wa ahlahooo ajma'een
134.[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,
إِلَّا عَجُوزًۭا فِى ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ﴿135﴾
Illaa 'ajoozan fil ghaabireen
135.Except his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers].
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ﴿136﴾
Summa dammarnal aakhareen
136.Then We destroyed the others.
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ﴿137﴾
Wa innakum latamurroona 'alaihim musbiheen
137.And indeed, you pass by them in the morning
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ﴿138﴾
Wa billail; afalaa ta'qiloon
138.And at night. Then will you not use reason?
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿139﴾
Wa inna Yoonusa laminal mursaleen
139.And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ﴿140﴾
Iz abaqa ilal fulkil mash hoon
140.[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ﴿141﴾
Fasaahama fakaana minal mudhadeen
141.And he drew lots and was among the losers.
فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌۭ﴿142﴾
Faltaqamahul hootu wa huwa muleem
142.Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.
فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ﴿143﴾
Falaw laaa annahoo kaana minal musabbiheen
143.And had he not been of those who exalt Allah,
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ﴿144﴾
Lalabisa fee batniheee ilaa Yawmi yub'asoon
144.He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.
۞ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌۭ﴿145﴾
Fanabaznaahu bil'araaa'i wa huwa saqeem
145.But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةًۭ مِّن يَقْطِينٍۢ﴿146﴾
Wa ambatnaa 'alaihi shajaratam mai yaqteen
146.And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.
وَأَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ﴿147﴾
Wa arsalnaahu ilaa mi'ati alfin aw yazeedoon
147.And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.
فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ﴿148﴾
Fa aamanoo famatta' naahum ilaa heen
148.And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ﴿149﴾
Fastaftihim ali Rabbikal banaatu wa lahumul banoon
149.So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?
أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثًۭا وَهُمْ شَٰهِدُونَ﴿150﴾
Am khalaqnal malaaa'i kata inaasanw wa hm shaahidoon
150.Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?"
أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ﴿151﴾
Alaaa innahum min ifkihim la yaqooloon
151.Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,
وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ﴿152﴾
Waladal laahu wa innhum lakaaziboon
152." Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars.
أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ﴿153﴾
Astafal banaati 'alal baneen
153.Has He chosen daughters over sons?
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ﴿154﴾
Maa lakum kaifa tahkumoon
154.What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ﴿155﴾
Afalaa tazakkaroon
155.Then will you not be reminded?
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَٰنٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ﴿156﴾
Am lakum sultaanum mubeen
156.Or do you have a clear authority?
فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ﴿157﴾
Faatoo bi Kitaabikum in kuntum saadiqeen
157.Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.
وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًۭا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ﴿158﴾
Wa ja'aloo bainahoo wa bainal jinnati nasabaa; wa laqad 'alimatil jinnatu innahum lamuhdaroon
158.And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment].
سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ﴿159﴾
Subhaanal laahi 'ammaa yasifoon
159.Exalted is Allah above what they describe,
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿160﴾
Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
160.Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin].
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ﴿161﴾
Fa innakum wa maa ta'ubdoon
161.So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,
مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ﴿162﴾
Maaa antum 'alaihi befaaatineen
162.You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿163﴾
Illaa man huwa saalil jaheem
163.Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.
وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ﴿164﴾
Wa maa minnasa illaa lahoo maqaamum ma'loom
164.[The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position.
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ﴿165﴾
Wa innaa llanah nus saaffoon
165.And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ﴿166﴾
Wa innaa lanah nul musabbihoon
166.And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah."
وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ﴿167﴾
Wa in kaanoo la yaqooloon
167.And indeed, the disbelievers used to say,
لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿168﴾
Law anna 'indana zikram minal awwaleen
168."If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿169﴾
Lakunna 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
169.We would have been the chosen servants of Allah."
فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ﴿170﴾
Fakafaroo bihee fasawfa ya'lamoon
170.But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know.
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿171﴾
Wa laqad sabaqat Kalimatunaa li'ibaadinal mursa leen
171.And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,
إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ﴿172﴾
Innaa hum lahumul mansooroon
172.[That] indeed, they would be those given victory
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ﴿173﴾
Wa inna jundana lahumul ghaaliboon
173.And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome.
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ﴿174﴾
Fatawalla 'anhum hatta heen
174.So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time.
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ﴿175﴾
Wa absirhum fasawfa yubsiroon
175.And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ﴿176﴾
Afabi'azaabinaa yasta'jiloon
176.Then for Our punishment are they impatient?
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ﴿177﴾
Fa izaa nazala bisaahatihim fasaaa'a sabaahul munzareen
177.But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ﴿178﴾
Wa tawalla 'anhum hattaa heen
178.And leave them for a time.
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ﴿179﴾
Wa absir fasawfa yubsiroon
179.And see, for they are going to see.
سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ﴿180﴾
Subhaana Rabbika Rabbil 'izzati 'amma yasifoon
180.Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.
وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿181﴾
Wa salaamun 'alalmursaleen
181.And peace upon the messengers.
وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿182﴾
Walhamdu lillaahi Rabbil 'aalameen
182.And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
